I thought I'd share some of my original drawings...

All my thread and fabric works are developed from my life drawings. Some are directly translated into thread, others come from a series of drawn studies. It depends on my intention for the finished piece and also the inspiration for the work. I always try to capture the essence of the original drawing in the final thread and fabric piece.
I thought I'd share some of my original drawings...
This is pencil on paper. It is a study for a large piece in thread & fabric that I am working on at the moment.
This is pencil on paper. Drawn as part of my many studies for the "kimono" series this one became "Reflection"

Time for new work!
| Sarong, thread, calico & preloved sarong on linen 76 x 51cm |
With the exhibition well under way it's a great time for me to take stock, tidy up and plan my next body of work which is exactly what I have been doing for the past few weeks. It's very nice to be able to see my studio floor again - it's been under mountains of fabric scraps and thread for months!
It feels great to re-energise and start to get excited about my new pieces. Over the coming weeks I'll be writing about my inspiration, influences and sharing some ideas for new works. I hope you enjoy sharing the journey with me!

| Mistress of the Chickens, thread, reycled fabrics, paper and straw on linen, 76 x 51cm |
Many thanks to Manyung Gallery and to everyone who came along to the opening last Friday. It was a lovely evening with beautiful music and wonderful artworks including the work of Janine Daddo, Anne Leon, Helen Cottle, Linda
Pottage & the fabulous hats of Felicity Northeast.
My own body of work, titled "Fabric of Life", includes many new works such as "Mistress of the Chickens" pictured here. This piece is made almost entirely from recycled materials and includes special guest appearances from Chooks: Sylvia, Ruby, Bella and Honeybum. Thanks girls!
